Since all the xenos were ready to leave, Hindar didn't see any reason to stick around. "Well, let's go then. Can you two slither that far, or should we carry you?" He didn't want to offend by picking them up again, but he wanted to give them the option for a ride. He stood, as did Aduzein, and waited for the two females to decide. Nezulor made up her mind quickly, and zipped up the wolv's leg and side, coming to rest on his shoulders. Rofutoc proceeded more slowly, slithering up her brother's foreleg, and draping herself over his back. Hindar nearly laughed at the difference in methods, but simply shook his head. This was going to be interesting! Leading the way, he headed back to the location where the ship was supposed to return. On the way, he stopped to update Eluryon with his "catch", then continued to the transport. The trip back to Star City was uneventful; the transport crew didn't even bat an eye at Hindar's new companions. Arriving at Star City, this time, Hindar found a place to stay first. He wasn't sure exactly what happened when a burstling grew to an adult, but somehow he didn't think he wanted to see it happen in the middle of a public place. They all went to the room, and Hindar spent a little time going through the computer's available information on Xenodragons. When he was done, he had new respect for his bonds. And a sincerely relieved feeling that he'd gotten back in one piece! If he'd known anything about them before, he may not have gone on the hunt. But he was glad he had. He liked his bonds. He looked around and the quiet room, wondering where the others had disappeared to. Just as he stood to look around more carefully, Aduzein appeared. ~I wish to explore the station. And maybe the ship. You should come.~ His tone did not allow for argument, but Hindar wasn't sure about leaving the burstlings. "What about..." he started to say, but Aduzein cut him off. ~They are fine. They sleep.~ The black xeno nudged his bond towards the door. ~Come, we will explore!~ As he wasn't being given a choice, the wolv left the room, accompanied by his enthusiastic xeno. They explored some shops, finding things Hindar's aunt would have loved, had she still been alive. There were many different dragons, in all sorts of colors, and Hindar was somewhat overwhelmed by the variety. "I never would have believed all the different colors!" was something he repeated several times that day. A short while later, Aduzein and Hindar approached the Draconic Relations Ministry office. The wolv had seen something about it in the computer, and wanted to check it out in person. Stepping into the office, he glanced around, to get an idea of what they had to offer. A poster on the wall grabbed his attention, and he stared at it for a few moments, before glancing back at his bond, then back to the picture. "They have some sort of xeno, but they don't look much like you! This one has fur. And wings." ~Sounds interesting,~ Aduzein's voice hissed through his mind. ~Are they here? Or on the ship?~ Looking at the displayed information, Hindar found what his bond asked. "It says they're on the Destiny, Hatching Bay Alpha. They are looking for candidates." ~You should apply. I'd love to have an unrelated female in my hive.~ Before Hindar could respond to such a bizarre statement, ripples of indignation flowed over his mind, as Rofutoc and Nezolur both voiced their objections. The opal was more vocal with her ~Your hive? I think not. Besides, we need an unrelated male, not another female. There are two of us already.~ Nezolur didn't actually have anything to say, she simply objected to Aduzein's claiming of their hive. They had no queen, so they weren't a true hive. If any were to claim the hive, she would back Hindar before either of her siblings; he was the one they all bonded to, after all. Hindar was somewhat surprised at being able to hear the two females when they were still in his room, but he didn't focus on that. "Enough! I'll sign up. But you all need to behave; I'm not doing this to give one of you a future mate, even if that's what you hope. Maybe it'll happen, but don't get your hearts set on it. I'msigning up because I think the baby is adorable, and maybe it will stay little longer than two days!" Aduzein cocked his head. ~You're weird,~ was all he said, as the wolv filled out the form at the counter. Once that was done, they headed back to his room. He was not overly surprised, when he got there, to find two adult female xenos stalking through the room. He was quite impressed with their coloration, though he didn't get a good look at the opal. The second Aduzein fully entered the room, Rofutoc pounced him. Their wrestling match only lasted a few minutes, and no one was injured in the least, but Hindar realized then that he would have to find a new home soon. Somewhere with a lot of open space! |
